Miami-Dade Officer Charged With Sexually Assaulting, Kidnapping Ex-Girlfriend Police Say

Police in Miami-Dade County arrested a cop late Wednesday night on charges of sexually assaulting and kidnapping his ex-girlfriend.

It is not okay for anyone in the Miami-Dade Police Department to break the public’s trust in any way, said MDPD Director Stephanie Daniels in a statement. “The claims that one of my officers did something wrong are very upsetting, and steps have been taken right away to hold the officer responsible.

His arrest record, which was made public by the police, says that 32-year-old Miguel Lomeli is being held at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center without bond on charges of armed sexual battery, armed kidnapping, and burglary with assault and/or battery while armed.

Police say Lomeli and the woman got into a fight outside of her home around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday. The dispute “escalated.”

He grabbed the woman, took her inside, and raped her, according to the cops.

The police report said that Lomeli was caught at 10:20 p.m. at the Miami-Dade Police Headquarters in Doral.

“Our police department’s honesty is very important, and we must continue to uphold the highest standards to keep the trust of everyone in Miami-Dade County,” Daniels said. “No one will be able to damage this badge,” she said.

The case is being looked into by the State Attorney’s Office and the department’s Special Victims Bureau.

The Miami-Dade Police Department will keep looking into this very carefully and will work closely with the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office to make sure that justice is done,” she said.
