Miraculous Survival: 4-Month-Old Emerges Unharmed After Tornado Destroys Clarksville Family’s Home

In the wake of the devastating tornado outbreak in Clarksville on Saturday, a young couple is now on the search for a new home for themselves and their two babies, having lost everything in the catastrophic event.

The tornado wreaked havoc on the family’s mobile home while they were inside. Sydney Moore, 22, recounted the harrowing experience, revealing that her 4-month-old baby was sucked up by the tornado but miraculously survived.

What remains of Moore’s trailer are scattered debris, haunting reminders of the terrifying ordeal that she and the father of her children endured. Moore vividly recalls being in the back bedroom with her 1-year-old son when the ominous howling of the wind alerted her to danger.

“Something in me just told me to run and jump on top of my son,” Moore recounted. “Literally the moment I jumped on him, the walls collapsed.” Simultaneously, in the living room, the children’s father witnessed the tornado funneling down on top of them.

“The roof came off first, the tip of the tornado came down and picked up the bassinet with my baby, Lord, in it,” Moore recounted. “He was the first thing to go up.” Despite her boyfriend’s desperate attempt to grab their sleeping 4-month-old from the bassinet, both were spun up and thrown out by the tornado.

“He was just holding on to the bassinet the whole time, and they went into circles,” Moore said, describing the chaotic scene. “Then they got thrown.” The family now faces the arduous task of rebuilding their lives after surviving the unimaginable.

Crushed under the trailer along with her one-year-old baby, Moore miraculously managed to push them free and escape from the wreckage.

In a frantic search lasting 10 agonizing minutes, the couple found their baby alive, lying in a fallen tree amidst the pouring rain. Remarkably, all of them survived the tornado, albeit with cuts and bruises.

Reflecting on the near-tragic event, Moore expressed her disbelief, stating, “I thought he was dead. I was pretty sure he was dead, and we weren’t going to find him. But he’s here, and that’s by the grace of God.”

The couple, having lost everything in the devastating aftermath, found solace in the community’s support, particularly in the form of diapers and formula. As they rebuild their lives, the only thing left to secure is a new home for their family.

In a testament to her unwavering commitment to her children, Moore asserted, “I will die for my kids. That’s not even a question. And my boyfriend would do the same thing.”
